1996 was a simpler time – well before the days of Facebook, smart phones and gadgets, before the days of the Gold Coast Suns and even the Superleague war!
In the bowls world, the pinnacle event on the calendar, the Men’s World Bowls Championships, were held on Australian soil at the lovely Lockleys Bowling Club in Adelaide, South Australia.
The Australian contingent contained the star studded five of Steve Anderson, Cameron Curtis, Rex Johnston, Kelvin Kerkow and Ian Taylor, with some of the biggest names in the sport also competing at the event.
We have much more 1996 World Bowls Championships content coming to The Bowls Clubhouse in the near future, but in the meantime here is a sneak peak – the full match from the Men’s Pairs Sectional rounds, with Australia’s Cameron Curtis and Rex Johnston taking on Fiji’s Panipasa Matailevu and Caucau Turagabeci. Enjoy!
